Kangana Ranaut To Play Tamil Nadu’s CM Jayalalithaa In Upcoming Biopic ‘Thalaivi’

Kangana Ranaut who saw tremendous success in terms of her last release, Manikarnika will now appear in a south biopic. Titled ‘Thalaivi’ the film is based on late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa. The makers announced the news on Kangana’s birthday, today.

The Queen actress will play the role of the legendary Tamil actress and politician Jayalalithaa. Taran Adarsh first announced Kangana has been singed for the role on twitter.

The film will see a collaboration of some of the best creators, produced by Vishnu Induri, ‘Thalaivi’ will start rolling from April. “Baahubali” and “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” writer has been brought on board to supervise the writing process, while Vijay will be directing it.

While another release titled, ‘The Iron Lady’ is also in works, Vijay said ‘Thalaivi’ will be the official biopic on the life of Jayalalithaa. He revealed to IANS that they have also taken permission from the late leader’s nephew Deepak.

Kangana will also be seen in the forthcoming movies like ‘Mental Hai Kya’ with Rajkummar Rao. Produced by Ekta Kapoor and directed by Prakash Kovelamudi, the film is scheduled to be released on May 24, 2019.
