After Aamir Khan expressed his desire to make a film on Mahabharata, it is Sonam Kapoor who has bought the rights of a novel on the epic. Titled Govinda, the book is a first in a three-part series, written by Udayasankar, which is a modern retelling of Mahabharata.
Sonam, who has acquired the rights, however, is still skeptical about her role in the film. "I don't know which character I will essay, but it's Indian mythology, which is spectacular and has a lot of potential," Sonam told DNA.
However, Govinda isn't the only book that has caught the fancy of the Neerja actor. She has also bought the rights of Anuja Chauhan's Battle For Bittora. "Both (Battle For Bittora and Govinda) can be made into films, and I'm going to do it," added Sonam.
Earlier there were reports of Pakistani actor Fawad Khan playing the lead in Battle For Bittora. But with his sudden exit from Bollywood after MNS's ultimatum, the film has been pushed to the back burner.
On the work front, Sonam will be next seen in R Balki's Padman. The film is set to hit the screens on January 26, 2018.
