Vivek Agnihotri Opens Up On Casting Nana Patekar In ‘The Vaccine War’

The producers of the upcoming movie 'The Vaccine War,' featuring Nana Patekar, Pallavi Joshi, Anupam Kher, and Raima Sen, revealed the official trailer of the film on Tuesday. Directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, the film is scheduled to release in theaters on September 28.

In this film, Nana Patekar portrays the character of Balram Bhargava, the former director-general of ICMR.

When discussing the choice of casting Nana Patekar for the lead role, director Vivek Agnihotri shared with ANI, "We were looking for an actor who has consistently invested his heart and soul into filmmaking. Suddenly, Nana Patekar came to mind. He is an actor in our industry who has never portrayed a negative character in his career. He has always been dedicated to his craft. I approached him for the film with great trepidation given his stature, but he graciously accepted."

The trailer narrates the story of the triumph of scientists and 130 crore Indian citizens who battled against COVID-19. It provides insights into the work of scientists involved in the development of the BBV152 vaccine, also known as Covaxin, a collaborative effort between Bharat Biotech and the Indian Council of Medical Research – National Institute of Virology.

Nana Patekar delivers several inspirational dialogues in the film, including one that goes, "This is a war, and we are all soldiers. From now on, we should focus on the target, just like Arjun aiming at the fish's eye."

In August, special screenings of 'The Vaccine War' were conducted in the United States as part of the India for Humanity Tour.
