5 Ways To Reuse Your Bridal Wear

A wedding dress is an embodiment of a bride’s personal style and love story. With all the attached emotion and nostalgia, deciding what to do with it after wedding can be very difficult. Here are few ways to reuse it.
* PLAN IN ADVANCE
Who doesn’t like some extra glitter and volume in their wedding lehenga? But if you plan to reuse it, make sure you ask your designer to reduce its volume. “A deep-necked gold choli can be used as a common gold blouse later. The lehenga should have minimal embroidery and the dupatta should actually be a saree that is pre-pleated,” reveals designer Amy Billimoria.
* BREAK IT WEAR IT
Being a bridal outfit, it’s bound to be heavy. So, it’s best to break it up. “Mix and match your heavily embroidered dupatta with a palazzo, plain skirt or an anarkali kurta.,” suggests designer Parul Bhargava. Similarly, you could team up your embroidered lehenga with a solid off shoulder or a crop top with chandelier earrings and a bomber jacket.
* CUT IT UP
“Convert your wedding lehenga into an anarkali and wear a matching pair of leggings with it,” says Rahul Jashnani, MD of Jashn. You can also pair the heavy dupatta with a simple salwar suit and give it a completely different look,” suggests designer Shruti Sancheti.
* THINK OUT OF THE BOX
Changing the core look of a wedding ensemble by mixing it with western separates can be a game changer. “Look for newer combinations. You can pair the lehenga with a black turtleneck or a simple white shirt,” says ace designer Tarun Tahiliani.
* PACK IT AND SAVE IT
If you’re still unsure of what to do, the best bet is to have it cleaned and packed so the fabric stays for years to come. Who knows? Maybe your daughter uses it. There are so many unconventional things to do with your dress post-wedding. All you need to do is get creative.
