Feet ache can happen to the best of us (even Cinderella). From glass slippers and well-worn shoes to tiredness or diseases, a lot of things can cause you to suffer from tired, achy feet. While medicines can definitely help, we’re ready with these simple home remedies that are quick, easy and feel great! Here we go:
# A Nice Long Soak
Nothing soothes the aches and itches of the day away like a nice long soak. This is especially true for your abused feet.
You can choose to go for a hot and cold soak – where alternately soak your feet in hot and cold water every 5 minutes – or soak your feet in warm water with epsom salts and a few drops of lavender, rosemary and eucalyptus essential oils to soothe your body from the tips of your feet to the cockles of your heart.
# Massage Your Aches Away
Treat your feet with a nice massage with a rolling pin or a tennis ball. All you have to do is roll your bare feet over the ball/pin for several minutes. Alternatively, you can massage the soreness out yourself with some warm olive oil to help you out.
# Exercise It Out
Yes, a little exercise to stretch the muscles in your feet can help relieve their ache. You can drop several pencils on the floor and pick them up with your toes.
You can also subject your feet to a finger spread. Simply sit on a chair and cross your right leg, while resting your ankle on your left thigh. Weave the fingers of your hand through the toes of your right foot to separate them. Focus on spreading your toes wide; and try not to pull them up or down. Hold for a few minutes and then switch sides. Similarly, you can try a toe release and many more such feet exercies.
# Ice, Ice, Baby
Apply an ice pack to sore heels for about 20 minutes to relieve pain from high-heels. Ice can also be used to bring down the swelling in your feet quickly. Put a small amount of crushed ice in a small plastic bag or simply use a bag of frozen peas and use it to massage the affected area in a circular motion. However, remember that the use of an ice pack for more than 10 minutes at a time can damage the skin and nerves of your feet.
# Eat Right
In case you’re suffering from bloated, uncomfortable feet; consume foods that can balance out the fluid retention levels in your body. Make bananas a part of your diet as they are rich in potassium which helps relieve fluid retention.
