Mostly new shoes tend to leave the wearer with marks and blisters if they’re not your size, oddly shaped or because of continuous rubbing in the same spot. Blisters tend to increase with friction and moisture. So keeping your feet dry is of utmost importance. Here are 5 simple home remedies to prevent and take care of blisters on your skin and shoe bites on your feet.
* Prevent & Protect
Prevent blisters in the first place by applying band-aids and soothing gel stickers to the blister-prone areas. Bandages actually act as a barrier and prevent friction wounds aka blisters. You can make a tent out of the bandage by leaving a little gap so that it doesn’t touch the blister/shoe bite prone area. This promotes healing and lets your blister dry out at the same time.
* Apply Aloe Vera Gel
Aloe vera gel promotes soothing and coolness with its natural healing properties. It is also anti-inflammatory in nature so it reduces swelling and pain. It is effective in second-hand burns so it can easily take care of a blister and shoe bites for you.
* Apply Castor Oil
Castor oil is quite effective on a blister. Applying castor oil on blisters and leaving them overnight helps to dry them faster and speeds up the healing process. You can add castor oil with apple cider vinegar or aloe vera gel to soothe it and help in healing.
* Soak In Green Tea
Soaking your blisters in green tea helps soothe any swelling and pain. Brew three bags of green tea in boiling water and add in a teaspoon of baking soda. Baking soda is added for its antiseptic properties. Let the brew cool down and use a cloth to compress on the blister. You can also wrap a gauze soaked in this brew to your blisters for faster healing.
* Let It Breathe
Many experts also claim the best way is to keep them open and not use anything on blisters. Let your body heal the blister on its own. In case you do bandage it up, remove it off when you’re at home and let them dry out in the air. To prevent it from infections you can apply a layer of antibacterial ointment.
