5 Intimate Disorders That Are Common In Men

People say that men are the more active partner when it comes to sex. Dealing with sexual problems can affect the pleasure of both parties involved. But it is very important to address sexual issues to preserve sexual wellbeing and the spark of your relationship. Sexual disorders in men are common issues that affect many men in their lifetime.
However, sex is a sensitive topic for many men, which makes them much less likely to talk about their sexual issues. Some common causes of sexual problems in men include ageing, emotional stress, smoking and alcohol use, unhealthy diet or obesity (especially belly fat), and drug use (for example, steroids or recreational drugs).
# Premature Ejaculation
It is estimated that most males have had this problem at least once in their lifetime. It is characterized by orgasm before or shortly after sexual penetration and the inability to delay ejaculation in all or nearly all sexual encounters.
Many men who are not sexually active with a partner can also suffer from premature ejaculation, though they might not realize it.
The common causes are nervousness due to:
- Inexperience
- Performance anxiety
- Over-arousal of the sexual response cycle
- Excessive masturbation
Some of the symptoms of this premature ejaculation are the inability to delay ejaculation from a few seconds to a few minutes, being preoccupied with sexual stimulation, and being unable to focus on pleasurable aspects of sex.
# Delayed Ejaculation
People often believe that delayed ejaculation is not even a problem but rather a blessing, since it prevents them from having premature ejaculation and thus lasting longer.
This is a myth because the very existence of delayed ejaculation means that men can take much longer than usual to reach orgasm, which is a clear indication that something is wrong. Delayed ejaculation can lead to mental, physical, and sexual exhaustion.
It can also cause pain during sex. In extreme cases, some men will get so tired from trying and failing to reach orgasm that they will simply fall asleep without ejaculating.
Some common causes of delayed ejaculation include:
Overuse of porn
Not enough stimulation
Obesity
Fatigue
Thyroid problems
Low hormones
Medications like antidepressants
Symptoms of this issue include being unable to ejaculate during sex, experiencing orgasm and still not ejaculating, taking a long time to reach orgasm with a partner or when masturbating.
# Erectile Dysfunction
Erectile dysfunction (ED) is the failure to develop or maintain an erection during sexual activity. This is one of the most common sexual disorders in men, especially as they age. Here are some common causes of erectile dysfunction:
Diabetes
High blood pressure
Smoking
Obesity
Heart disease
Psychological factors, including stress and performance anxiety.
The symptoms of erectile dysfunction include:
Erection difficulties
Painful erections
Trouble achieving or maintaining an erection
Premature ejaculation
# Sharp Pain during Sex
Sex should not be painful in any sense! Sharp pain while having sex is commonly thought to occur due to poor blood circulation that can possibly lead to nerve damage and pain. Pain during sex is not a single problem but can be due to some causes and conditions such as:
- Tension in the pelvic area or the muscles around it
- Hormone problems
- Infections in the reproductive organs
- Serious injuries such as fractures or damage to the prostate gland and other pelvic organs can cause pain during sex
The classic symptom of this disorder is pain during sexual intercourse—whether during penetration, ejaculation, or post-ejaculation.
# Impotence
Impotence is one of the major sexual disorders in men where the quality of semen and production of semen is impaired. A lack of sexual desire or libido is another commonly reported complaint in men with such a disorder.
The common causes of impotence are being overweight, smoking, alcohol, heart and blood pressure problems and diabetes. You need to take prompt treatment to prevent any long-term damage to your reproductive system and sexual life.
