5 Mistakes With Healthy Foods You Should Not Make

Whenever we hear a food benefiting our health, we immediately want to dive into it. If you think that more isbetter, you are absolutely wrong. Everything does not work so fast. You must always remember that only the right amount of the right type of foods works great for your health. If you overdo the right food or choose the wrong kinds, it can do damage to your health, so choose to limit every good food and focus on the bigger picture.
# Munching On Brazil Nuts
Brazil nuts contain selenium, an essential nutrient for the human body. One Brazil nut contains 68 to 91 mcg of selenium and our body requires about 55 mcg of selenium a day. So, munching on a lot of Brazil nuts would do no good; just one is enough for a day. Adults should never take more than 400 mcg of selenium per day, which means you cannot have more than 4-5 Brazil nuts in a day. If you overdo Brazil nuts, too much selenium in the body can cause diarrhea, nausea, hair loss, rashes on the skin, and even major issues such as heart attacks, kidney failure, breathing difficulties, etc.
# Overdoing Leafy Greens
Each one of us regard leafy greens to be extremely beneficial for the health. In fact, they are. However, if you have a tendency to get kidney stones, watch out on the quantity of spinach and other greens as they contain oxalate. Oxalate causes kidney stones and not more than 40 to 50 mg of oxalate is recommended in a day. Half a cup of greens contain 10 mg of oxalate, so take a couple of servings of the leafy greens and do not take huge quantities of them.
# Having The Wrong Fish
Fish are rich sources of protein, low in saturated fats, and high in good fats. However, fish absorb mercury, which is harmful for the human body. Mercury is something pregnant women must readily avoid, especially because it can end up harming the baby’s nervous system. In a week, limit yourself to 12 ounces of low-mercury fish like shrimps, salmon, and canned light tuna. Avoid those fishes that are high in the mercury content, such as king mackerel, orange roughy, shark, swordfish, and tilefish.
# Being Careless With Mushrooms
Do not pick mushrooms if you are unaware of which kinds to eat. Although these wild fungi are a treat for the taste buds, loaded with nutrients and low in calories, never pick them up from local forests as eating the wrong kind will start an upset stomach and might even lead to death. The safe bet always is to pick your mushrooms from the grocery store.
# Drowning In Coconut Oil
It is a known fact that coconut oil is full of healthy fats that boost the good cholesterol, but it is bursting with saturated fats as well. It is best recommended not to consume more than 13 grams of saturated fat in a day and 1 tablespoon of coconut oil itself contains 11 grams of saturated fat. So, limit the consumption of your coconut oil to avoid raising the levels of saturated fat in the body.
