5 Ways To Maintain Good Mental Health

As countries introduce measures to restrict movement as part of efforts to reduce the number of people infected with COVID-19, more and more of us are making huge changes to our daily routines.
The new realities of working from home, temporary unemployment, home-schooling of children, and lack of physical contact with other family members, friends and colleagues take time to get used to. Adapting to lifestyle changes such as these, and managing the fear of contracting the virus and worry about people close to us who are particularly vulnerable, are challenging for all of us. They can be particularly difficult for people with mental health conditions.
Fortunately, there are lots of things that we can do to look after our own mental health and to help others who may need some extra support and care.
Here are tips and advice that we hope you will find useful.
* Be Kind To Yourself
Be kind to yourself above all. Don’t be so hard on yourself over every small thing. Making mistakes is part of life, That’s how you grow and learn and better yourself every day. Always being negative about your life, choices, situations, and events can hamper your mental health drastically. The best way is to distract yourself with things or people who make you feel loved and happy and worthy. Self-love continues to be the anthem of 2019.
* Get Enough Sleep
Not getting enough sleep can dampen your senses, make you irritable, uncoordinated and overall affect your body in mental, physical and emotional ways. Proper sleep helps rejuvenate your mind and sort out your brain’s processes. Eat healthy meals, exercise regularly and sleep for a minimum of 7-8 hours to stay healthy.
* Meditate
Relax and unwind your mind and body with yoga, exercise, and other meditation techniques. It helps lower stress levels, improves functions of the brain and helps you sleep better! There are various ways you can meditate nowadays so take your pick and start living healthy.
* Set Your Priorities
We’re sure you’ve got plenty of resolutions already but its easier to keep realistic goals instead. This 2019 work towards your goals and priorities that you are sure you can achieve. Working towards something concrete will help your mind associate success every time you complete an attainable goal. This enhances your self-esteem and helps you understand just how much you are capable of doing and your personal limits.
* Be One With Nature
Get involved with the nature around your locality or town. Take up gardening, go for long walks in parks and forests. Hiking, trekking, and other outdoor activities will help make you one with nature. There is just so much to learn from nature and animals! It helps to boost your mood, lowers stress levels and stimulates creativity in your brain.
