Both adults and children experience nausea and vomiting at least a few times a year as we are eating out more and more now, especially high fat greasy foods. Vomiting is a reflex action in which our body tries to get rid of undigested material. I have traveling sickness, and if I eat anything greasy when I am traveling, I always tend to vomit. When we are vomiting, we should make sure to keep ourselves hydrated. I wanted to share some of the home remedies that has been proven to be effective for both adults and children.
Here are some of the common reasons for vomiting. Generally motion sickness, overeating and food poisoning are the most common reasons for vomiting in children. But in adults, it can be a symptom of an underlying illness too. If vomiting persists accompanied by feeling extremely tiredness, high fever or dizziness, consult a doctor immediately.

Fennel seeds are an amazing home remedy for vomiting because it treats both indigestion and stops vomiting at the same time. To use fennel seeds, take a teaspoon of fennel seeds in a pan. Now dry roast in low to medium flame colour changes colour and a nice aroma wafts. Let cool completely and store in an airtight box. Chew quarter teaspoon of these seeds to stop vomiting.
# Ginger Tea
To make ginger tea, pound small piece of dry ginger and coriander seats in mortar and pestle. Now take the pounded mixture along with required amount of jaggery and a cup of water in a pan. Boil for a few minutes, strain and drink. For children, reduce the amount of ginger.
# Jeera Water
Jeera water not only treats indigestion but also helps stop vomiting too. To make Jeera water, take quarter teaspoon of cumin seeds in a bowl. Add a cup of water and boil till it reduces to half cup and then strain. Drink a cup of this to get good relief from vomiting. Jeera water is good for both adults and kids.
# Mint Tea
Menthol present in mint is a good home remedy for treating both nausea and vomiting. For me, the smell of mint treat nausea instantly. both smelling the fresh leaves and consuming mint tea helps. To make mint tea, take a handful of mint leaves in a bowl. Add in the cup of hot water to it and step for a few minutes, strain and drink.
# Flavored Water
Flavored water also is an amazing home remedy for treating both vomiting and nausea. To make flavored water, take a little of boiled and cooled water in a bowl. Now take your favorite fruits, slice then mama thinly and then add to the water. Let them steep for a few minutes and then drink. Fresh fruits flavor the water really well, I love to eat cucumber slices, orange, lemon and cut strawberries.
# Dried Or Fresh Amla
Consuming fresh amla and dried amla will help stop vomiting. At home, I cut amla into small pieces, mix it with salt sun dry and then store in an airtight box. Chewing on dried amla when I’m traveling greatly helps prevent nausea and vomiting. If you don’t want to make your own dried amla, you can also buy it from the shops too. Even amla murabba and amla soaked in honey also will help treat nausea and vomiting.
