Molluscum contagiosum is a skin infection that produces circular and hard bumps on the skin. This infection is highly contagious and can spread from person to person through contact with the bumps or contaminated objects. The bumps can become very red and inflamed especially when scratched or rubbed. This condition is not painful but discomforting and you can eliminate it by following these 7 home remedies for molluscum contagiosum.
# Duct Tape
Duct tape helps to stop the virus from spreading while removing the bumps from the skin. It also provides protection from scratching and rubbing against surfaces and clothes. It also gives the affected area time to heal while preventing scratching or wanting to touch and check the affected area. For best results, apply a strip of duct tape to bumps. Do this daily until bumps are gone.
# Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar contains antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that help to reduce irritation when the bumps have become inflamed. It also helps to soothe an irritated area by temporarily keeping the infection at bay. It also helps to penetrate the skin itself and fight off the infection. For best results, apply 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to infected skin. Do this daily until skin clears up.
# Garlic
Garlic contains allicin which has antibacterial and antiviral properties that help to fight off infections. It also regulates the blood flow and circulation to eliminate inflammation. It also has antioxidants that remove any skin infections or blemishes. It also helps to stop the spread of bumps by limiting them to one area till they vanish. For best results, either rub ½ clove of garlic mixed with vinegar to the skin or drink garlic tea daily till bumps are gone.
# Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil has antiseptic and antifungal properties that destroy skin infections upon contact. It also helps to sooth irritation from bumps and cuts with its cool sensation that penetrates the skin. It also stops the need for scratching once applied so that itching can reduce on its own. For best results, apply approximately 1 teaspoon of tea tree oil to infected area. Do this daily till skin has returned to normal.
# Coconut Oil
Coconut oil kills the virus rapidly due to its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It also speeds up the healing process while protecting the bumps from becoming inflamed. It also goes deep into the skin to provide much-needed support against the infection so that it can quickly vanish. For best results, apply 1 teaspoon of coconut oil to infected skin. Do this daily till skin improves.
# Baking Soda
Baking soda is a fast-acting product that helps to fight off infections rapidly. It contains several acids that stop bacteria and viruses in their tracks while protecting wounds, bumps, and cuts from further infection. For best results, mix water and 1 cup of baking soda together and apply to infected area. You can also pour 2 cups of baking soda into a tub filled with water then soak in the tub for 30 minutes. Do this daily until infection is gone.
# Witch Hazel
Witch hazel has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties that help to eliminate infections as soon as possible. It also dries up bumps and warts so that the healing process can take place. For best results, apply 1 teaspoon of witch hazel to infected skin area. Do this daily till all bumps are gone.
