Oedema occurs when excess fluid builds up in the body's tissues, leading to swelling and discomfort, particularly in the hands, feet, arms, ankles, and legs. This condition may arise due to pregnancy, certain medications, congestive heart failure, kidney disease, or liver cirrhosis.
Common symptoms of oedema include abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, high blood pressure, joint stiffness, weakness, vision disturbances, and swollen skin.
If oedema is caused by an underlying medical condition, it is essential to seek medical attention. However, for mild cases, the following natural remedies may help alleviate swelling and discomfort:
# Epsom Salt Bath
Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) has anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce swelling and pain.
- Add 1 cup of Epsom salt to warm bathwater.
- Soak your feet for 15 to 20 minutes.
- Repeat daily until the swelling subsides.
# Massage the Affected Area
Gently massaging swollen feet can promote fluid drainage, reducing swelling and discomfort.
- Massage the feet using firm, upward strokes with slight pressure.
- This helps remove excess fluid and relaxes the muscles.
# Ginger Tea
