The whole world is forced to work from home due to corona virus. The biggest disadvantage of work from home is that it has spoiled the balance of our life. This disbalance of life is also affecting our body. Working at the computer for hours is giving people back pain and neck pain. The problem of cervical pain has also increased in many people. Although neck pain is not just due to this, there are many other reasons behind it. The most common cause of neck pain is your lifestyle, in which you sleep or sit incorrectly. Most people in lockdown suffered from cervical pain, which is associated with neck pain. But cervical pain is not the only cause of neck pain, but there are many other types and causes as well.
Types of Neck Pain
1. Muscle pain
Neck pain is primarily due to muscle tension. It occurs in the neck or shoulder muscles in response to prolonged physical or emotional stress. In addition, when severe, hard lumps can develop in the neck muscles that also emerge with light touch.
2. Muscle cramps
It is caused by sudden spasms of the neck muscles. These problems can occur due to injury to your neck or sprain of your head. When severe, these muscle spasms may also occur in response to a spinal disc or nerve problem. However, there is no clear reason for this.
3. Headache
Neck-related pain is most often felt behind the head and upper neck and usually results in muscle tension. Neck pain starting with a headache is usually dull or painful rather than acute. Due to this you may also have trouble moving the neck.
4. Pain in neck joint
Joint pains of the neck are often described as deep, sharp or painful. Trouble starts with your spine and reaches the neck through your shoulder or upper back. Sometimes it can also be caused by Arthritis, which grows rapidly due to weak bones.
5. Neuralgia
Irritation or sharp pain in the veins of the spine is also the cause of neck pain. In this you have a moderate pain continuously. When severe, when the spinal cord in the neck is narrowed, myelopathic pain may develop.
How to ease neck pain at home
If you have minor neck pain or stiffness, take these simple steps to relieve it:

- Take a few days off from sports, activities that aggravate your symptoms, and heavy lifting. When you resume normal activity, do so slowly as your symptoms ease.
- Exercise your neck every day. Slowly stretch your head in side-to-side and up-and-down motions.
- Use good posture.
- Avoid cradling the phone between your neck and shoulder.
- Change your position often. Don’t stand or sit in one position for too long.
- Get a gentle neck massage.
- Use a special neck pillow for sleeping.
- Don’t use a neck brace or collar without your doctor’s approval. If you don’t use them properly, they can make your symptoms worse.
