Wine, a drink that show class, comes in different variations in the world. Each wine on this list possesses one crucial quality: immediate drinkability. These wines are approachable, interesting, and, despite one or two exceptions where aging would help, ready to be popped and poured. According to Forbes, here is a list of top 5 wines in the world.
Peter Michael
A small, previously little-known vineyard in Napa Valley’s Oakville District has produced a wine that epitomizes the modern style of Napa Cabernet. Au Paradis is the newest offering from Peter Michael Winery. This producer’s stellar reputation was built on wines grown in Sonoma County, but the 2012 bottling of Au Paradis proves its deft touch extends to Napa. The wine speaks of its site, farmed and vinified to perfection by an experienced team capturing the brilliance of a bountiful vintage.
Oregon
The color's pale lemon so just by sight I'd guess a Pinot Grigio or a watery Sauvignon Blanc. But not on the palate. Here the presence is big and determined, the flavor intense but not heavy. 100% barrel fermented but only 25% new so it enhances the bright Chardonnay fruit without overwhelming it.
Madeira, Portugal
With its honeyed, slightly spiced, rich, nutty, sweetness it pairs magically with things like baklava, and almond or hazelnut tarts, the sort of situations where the dry table wines you’ve been enjoying through the meal just quit trying and fade to vinegar. It even stands up well to the always hard to please chocolate.
Piedmont, Italy
A magisterial wine just coming into its full pomp. The nose filled my head with deep blackberry flavors, ripe plums and soft red cherries. Then came those suggestions of tobacco and cedar, wet leaves and truffles that will only grow with time. Provides wonderful drinking now, but be sure to decant it a couple of hours in advance, and stick a few bottles away for Thanksgiving 2026. Now there's a scary thought.
Napa Valley, California
Absolutely crisp dry, but packed with tropical fruit - lychees, tangerines and summer peaches - balanced by ribbons of bright, Loire-like acidity. And to think, 60 years ago, there was more CB in Napa than Chardonnay.
