The Western Ghats mountain range is one of the major tourist attraction in the country, also known as Sahyadhris range in Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka state. Western Ghats sub ranges or Mountain hills are home to list of the highest peaks,gaps and so many undiscovered and endemic species of fauna along with major tourist attractions.
* Anaimalai Hills
The Anaimalai mountain hill range is also known as Elephant Hill, located in Tamil Nadu and Kerala states. Anamudi is the highest peak of the Anaimalai Hills and also the tallest peak of the Western ghats located in the Idukki district of Kerala.
* Nilgiris Hills
The Nilgiri mountains or Nilgiri Hills is home to at least 24 highest mountain summit above 2,000 metres, located at the junction of Tamil Nadu,Karnataka and Kerala. Nilgiris Hills or Blue Mountains is famous for its hill stations,Nilgiri Mountain Railway and national park along with endemic nilgiris animals and birds.
* Palni Hills
The Palani Hills are another mountain sub-range of the Western Ghats ranges,lies between the Cumbum Valley,the Vaigai River valley and Kongunadu region. Palni Hills is protected as a wildlife sanctuary or Palani Hills Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park.
* Cardamom Hills
The Cardamom Hills are famous for pepper and coffee plantation in the Western Ghats and under consideration as a World Heritage Site. Cardamom Hills mountainous terrain and deep valleys are home of three major rivers and famous Idukki Dam and Mullaperiyar Dam.
* Biligiriranga Hills
The Biligiriranga Hills range is one of the major hill range, located at the confluence of the Western Ghats and the Eastern Ghats. BRT Wildlife Sanctuary or Biligiriranga Swamy Temple Wildlife Sanctuary is the herds of wild elephants.
