We’re accustomed to 12 hour day and 12-hour night (unless you’re a reader from the poles or the countries listed below), but where on earth does the sun never set? Is there really a place on earth where sun never sets? How do people manage their life? How’s it possible? Plethora of questions crawls our skin when we think about the extra-ordinary phenomena, midnight sun.
Midnight sun, a hard to imagine phenomena occurs in the summer months in places like Arctic circle and Antarctic circle, basically on poles. Around the summer months, the sun is visible for full 24 hours, and similarly, it never shows up in winters for about 6 months. People have to manage their lives and other chores in the summers sunlight and in the dark of winters.
# Norway
Life’s normal, except for the new visitors, tourists or so. They will feel the irritation of sunlight all day long, but it doesn’t take long to get used to it. People usually do pretty much everything they can with 20 hours of sunlight at hand.
Norway welcomes tourists from all walks of life and offers totally different experience than any other place on earth. You can hike, bike along the coastal areas in Southern Norway, see Northern lights which are life long experience to enjoy in Northern Norway, go sight-seeing and bird-watching. There’s lot more than you’ve imagined while packing your rucksack.
# Iceland
People living in Iceland sees no dark From May 10 through July where there will be 24 hours of daylight and sun above the horizon all the time. Iceland is Europe’s second largest island after Great Britain, and consists of 30 minor islands in all.
# Canada
Like the above two, Canada isn’t really harsh due to its abnormal sunset and sunrise timing and offers a lot of tourists attractions and experiences which includes Aurora viewing, mountaineering, Hot springs, suspension bridge walk, road trips on world’s second largest stretches, and lots of historical monuments. Pretty much covers everything for the wanderers and travelers.
# Sweden
Sun usually sets around midnight and is up again at 4:30 am in the morning in Sweden from early May until late August. Sweden is usually warmer than the other places we’ve covered here, hence offers a great comfort for not so adventurous tourists.
# Finland
You can experience the Northern lights from all the places covered above, but Finland with its glass igloos luxury suites right out in the snow-covered mountains offers a spectacular experience than any other place on this list. Ski Lapland is the best for skiers. Not to mention their magical Christmas experience and festivals. Bicycling, enjoying a cottage life by the lake, their colorful autumns are some of the best of Finland.
