5 Winter Festivals To Enjoy In India

Winter Season has a wide variety of multicolor festivals and holidays are celebrated across the India, Most winter festivals of India are held in the month of December to February. Other major festivals of the Winter Season includes Saraswati Puja or Vasant Panchami,Sunburn Goa festival,Christmas and Nagaur Festival.
* Gujarat Kite Festival
International Kite Festival in Gujarat known as Uttarayan or Makar Sankranti is regarded as one of the biggest festivals celebrated in Gujarat. The festival of Uttarayan and the day is considered to be one of the most important harvest day in India, Uttarayan festival takes place on 14 January of each year during the Makar Sankranti and continues until 15 January.
* Lohri Festival Punjab
The Festival of bonfire or Lohri is a popular Punjabi festival and meant to be celebrated on the shortest day of the year. Punjabi folk dance,Sarson da saag and Bonfire makes it one of the greatest festivals of Punjab also celebrated across Northern India.
* Magh Bihu Festival
he festival of Magh Bihu also called Bhogali Bihu is a harvest festival and one of the three Bihu Festival celebrated in Assam. Magh Bihu festival is marked by feasts and bonfires so called festival of food such as cakes of rice or Sunga Pitha,Til Pitha and Laru plus games such as tekeli bhonga and buffalo fighting.
* Thai Pongal Festival
The Thai Pongal is a harvest festival celebrated by Tamils, a four day festival which usually takes place from January 13 to 16. Bhogi Pandigai,Pongal Pandigai,Maatu Pongal and Kaanum Pongal are another significant festival celebrated during winters in Tamil Nadu and dedicated to the lord of fire, son of God, cattle, and birds respectively.
* Camel Festival Bikaner
The Camel Festival is a lively and colourful event organized in Bikaner by the Rajasthan Tourism, every year in the month of January. Folk dances,Music,Art and Culture plus spectacle of unusual camel performances: camel races, camel dances, and the bumpy, neck shaking camel rides are the major attraction of the Camel Festival Bikaner.
