As we all know that Uttar Pradesh is the most populous state of India. Fertile lands cover a large part of Uttar Pradesh. About 6.88% of the total geographical area of Uttar Pradesh is recorded as a forest area. Uttar Pradesh is also significant for its Wildlife Sanctuary and National Parks. There are a variety of different types of Wildlife Sanctuaries and National parks in Uttar Pradesh.
# Dudhwa National Park
This is the only National Park of Uttar Pradesh. This national park is located at the Terai belt in the northern part of Uttar Pradesh. It covers an area of 1284.3 km, which includes three extensive forests. This national park is acquiring a large part of the Indo-Nepal border. Dudhwa National Park is the home to various wildlife species. It also supports many endangered species with the diverse and productive Terai ecosystem. This national park has many lakes, varieties of Deer species, one-horned rhinoceros, tigers, and various bird species. Bakhira Wildlife Sanctuary is located 46 km west of the city Gorakhpur. This wildlife Sanctuary is spreading over an area of 29 sq. Km. This wildlife Sanctuary reserves birds in the most prominent natural floodplain wetland of India. In this sanctuary, the most notable species is the Indian Purple moorhen or Purple Swamp-hen.

Chandraprabha Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Chandauli district of Uttar Pradesh. This sanctuary is expanding over an area of 78 sq. km. It has many varieties of forests such as desert thorn forests, dry tropical riverine forest etc. This sanctuary also has much wildlife such as nilgai, sambar deer, Chital, Leopards, wild boar, and many other animals. The major attraction is its bird watcher’s paradise. You can see around 150 species of birds in this sanctuary.

Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Bird wildlife sanctuary is located in the Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh. This wildlife Sanctuary is expanding over an area of 4.27 square kilometres. This is a bird sanctuary which has more than 500 species of birds. The sanctuary also has a land area of various nearby Talaabs. The highlights of this sanctuary are Northern Shoveler, its lakes, Common Teal, Gargeni Teel, scope duck etc.
# Hastinapur Wildlife Sanctuary
Hastinapur Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. It was named for the significance of the ancient city, Hastinapur. This sanctuary is spreading over 2073 square kilometres. 370+ species of birds and a decent population of the animal variety, you can find here. There are swamp deer in this sanctuary, blue bull, sambhar, wild cat, hyena, and more animal varieties. This sanctuary highlights are colourful woodpeckers, hog deer, the great Indian one-horned owls, grasslands, Ganga dolphins, and turtles.
# Kaimur Wildlife Sanctuary
Kaimur Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Mirzapur and Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh. This sanctuary has a land area of over 500 square kilometres. The verdant land is covered with mosaic grassland, deciduous forest and swampy marshes. This wildlife Sanctuary is famous for Blackbuck, Migratory Birds and River Son. Other famous wildlife are leopards, chital, blue bull, wild cat, antelope etc.
