# Barnawapara Wildlife Sanctuary, Chhattisgarh
Located in the northern part of Mahasamund district, the wildlife sanctuary has been established during 1976 in a vast area of 245 sq. km. This sanctuary is a very popular one and comes in seventh place among the popular attractions of Raipur. Barnawapara Wildlife Sanctuary is open from 7 am to 6 pm. The sanctuary remains closed from 1st July to 31st October during the monsoon season.
# Raipur of Chhattisgarh
Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh is the largest city of the state. Raipur is one of the largest industrial centers of the country with over hundreds of steel mills and six steel plants. Apart from steel, it is also home to the aluminum and coal industries. The city is known for its temples, lakes, factories, educational centers as well as the development of Naya Raipur. Naya Raipur is a newly planned city and is about 17 km away from the present city. Barnawapara Wildlife Sanctuary, Dandak Caves, Bilaspur, Chitrakoot Falls, Amarkantak, Bhilai, Kanha National Park and Sitanadi Wildlife Sanctuary are the major attractions here.

Dantewada came into existence in the year 1998 after the formation of Chhattisgarh from Madhya Pradesh. Situated in Bastar district, Dantewada offers a panoramic view of beautiful rivers, sparkling waterfalls, peaks and lush green meadows. Historically, the city was named after the deity Danteshwari, an incarnation of Shakti. Dantewada was known as Tarlapala and Dantavali in prehistoric times. However, at present, the area is affected by Naxalism.
# Chitrakote Waterfalls
India’s largest waterfall Chitrakoot is popularly known as the Nigra Falls of India due to its breadth. Located in the west of Jagdalpur in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh, this waterfall originates from the river Indravati. Chitrakoot Falls is at a height of about 30 meters with a width of 985 feet, and during monsoon, you can witness its beauty even more. The waterfall falls from the top of the cliff in 3 streams during the summer. An important attraction at the bottom of the falls is the temple of Lord Shiva with several small Shivalingas. The best time to visit the waterfall is between the months of July and October.
# Mainpat
Mainpat is a beautiful hill station with lush green pastures, deep valleys, breathtaking waterfalls, dense forests and untouched rivulets. The hill station is not yet fully commercialized and this is the reason why people know less about this place. Mainpat is often called Shimla of Chhattisgarh and Mini Tibet. Tibetan refugees were resettled in Mainpat after the Chinese invasion of Tibet and have been living in Mainpat since then. You can spend some peace and relaxation here after getting out of your busy lifestyle.
