The Lakshmi Narasimha Temple, also known as the Ugra Narsimha’s sculpture, is the largest monolithic sculpture in Hampi in the ruins of Hampi. It was installed in 1528 A.D., this 6.7-meter high statue. This was vandalized by the Mughal invasion over the Kingdom of Vijayanagara in 1565. The statue of Lord Narasimha – a Lord Vishnu incarnation, and a half lion – shows the deity in its fearsome form sitting in a cross-legged position.
