Chocolate Banana Bread

Ingredients

    1 c. mashed ripe banana (about 3 medium), plus 1 ripe banana, halved and sliced lengthwise
    1 c. packed brown sugar
    1/2 c. unsalted butter, melted
    2 large eggs
    1/2 c. plain Greek yogurt
    1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
    2 c. all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. Kosher salt
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
    1 1/4 c. chocolate chunk, divided


Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9-by-5-inch loaf pan.
    
2. Whisk together mashed banana, suga, butter, eggs, yogurt, and vanilla in a bowl until well combined. Sprinkle flour over banana mixture, then sprinkle flour with baking powder, salt, baking soda, and cinnamon. Gently stir until just combined. Fold in 1 cup of chocolate chunks. Spoon batter into prepared pan. Arrange remaining 1/4 cup chocolate chunks and banana slices on top of batter.
    
3. Bake until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, 1 hour to 1 hour, 10 minutes. Cool in pan on a wire rack 20 minutes, then remove to rack to cool completely.
