Diwali, the festival of lights, is incomplete without delicious sweets. While traditional treats like laddoos and halwa take center stage, a modern favorite that has won everyone’s heart is Chocolate Barfi. This fusion dessert combines the richness of classic Indian barfi with the indulgence of chocolate, making it a perfect sweet to share during festive celebrations.
Whether you’re looking to surprise your guests or satisfy your own sweet tooth, Chocolate Barfi is an easy and delightful treat to prepare. Let’s dive into the simple recipe that will make your Diwali extra sweet!
Ingredients for Chocolate Barfi
1 cup Milk Powder
½ cup Sugar
½ cup Ghee (Clarified Butter)
½ cup Fresh Cream
½ cup Cocoa Powder
¼ cup Chopped Nuts (Almonds, Cashews, Pistachios)
1 tsp Cardamom Powder
Choco Chips or Chocolate Shavings (for garnish, optional)
How to Make Chocolate Barfi
In a non-stick pan, heat the ghee on medium flame. Once the ghee melts, add the fresh cream and milk powder. Stir continuously to avoid lumps and ensure everything blends smoothly. After the mixture becomes smooth, add the sugar and cardamom powder. Keep stirring the mixture on a low flame until the sugar dissolves and the mixture thickens. This will take around 5-7 minutes.
Once the mixture is cooked well and starts leaving the sides of the pan, divide it into two equal portions. Leave one portion in the pan and transfer the other to a greased plate or tray. To the portion still in the pan, add cocoa powder. Mix well until the chocolate flavor is evenly spread throughout the mixture. Now, spread the chocolate mixture over the plain portion that you set aside earlier. Press it down evenly with a spatula or your hands to create a smooth layer.
Sprinkle the chopped nuts over the top for an added crunch and visual appeal. You can also add some chocolate chips or shavings if you like extra chocolatey goodness. Allow the barfi to cool down completely. Once set, cut it into squares or diamonds using a sharp knife. Your rich and delicious Chocolate Barfi is ready to serve!
