Ingredients for Methi Ladoo

To make approximately 12-15 ladoos, you will need:

Fenugreek seeds (methi dana) – 100 grams
Whole wheat flour – 200 grams
Ghee – 1 cup (clarified butter)
Jaggery – 200 grams (grated)
Almonds – 1/4 cup (chopped)
Cashews – 1/4 cup (chopped)
Raisins – 1/4 cup
Cardamom powder – 1 teaspoon
Poppy seeds – 1 tablespoon (optional, for garnish)

How to Make Methi Ladoo

To begin, soak 100 grams of fenugreek seeds in warm water for 6-8 hours or overnight. Drain the water and dry the seeds using a clean cloth. Once dry, roast the fenugreek seeds on low flame until they release a nutty aroma. Grind them into a fine powder and set aside. Next, heat 1/2 cup of ghee in a heavy-bottomed pan and roast 200 grams of whole wheat flour on low flame, stirring continuously, until it turns golden brown and emits a rich aroma. This step takes about 10-12 minutes. Allow the roasted wheat flour to cool slightly.

In the same pan, add a tablespoon of ghee and roast 1/4 cup each of chopped almonds, cashews, and raisins until they turn lightly golden. Combine the roasted wheat flour, ground fenugreek powder, dry fruits, and 1 teaspoon of cardamom powder in a large mixing bowl.

In a separate pan, melt 200 grams of grated jaggery with a tablespoon of water on low flame, ensuring it does not overheat or crystallize. Once the jaggery has melted, pour it into the flour mixture and mix thoroughly while it is still warm. Grease your hands with a little ghee and shape the mixture into small, round ladoos. If desired, roll the ladoos in a tablespoon of poppy seeds for a decorative touch.

Allow the ladoos to cool completely before storing them in an airtight container. These nutritious treats can be stored at room temperature for up to two weeks or refrigerated for up to a month.
