Celebrated across the country, Janmashtami or Krishna Janmashtami marks the birth of Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Vishnu, on earth. It is an important Hindu festival celebrated on the eighth day of the Krishna paksha of the Shravan month. It is believed that Krishna was born at midnight, so devotees stay awake during the night singing devotional songs, fasting and performing aarti.
Ingredients:
A cup of cream collected from milk or one cup of store-bought heavy cream
One teaspoon of misri dana or crystallized sugar lumps
One Teaspoon of chopped dry fruits
Method
* Collect cream from the top of the milk for a couple of days and you will be able to gather a cup of fresh milk cream.
* You can also use store-bought heavy cream. Take a cup of the cream and put it in a mixer. Churn it well till it becomes thick.
* Now, add in four to five tablespoons of cold water in it and churn it again.
* The butter and the whey will separate slowly.
* Collect the butter in a bowl and add in the misri and chopped nuts.
* Mix well and your makhan misri is ready. You can keep this as an offering to the deity and then distribute among the devotees, friends and family.
