Ingredients
500 grams mushrooms, sliced
2 medium-sized onions, finely chopped
2 medium-sized tomatoes, finely chopped
2 green chilies, slit
1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
1 teaspoon black pepper powder
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon garam masala
1 tablespoon oil
Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Salt to taste
Method
- Heat oil in a pan or skillet over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add the finely chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and slit green chilies. Sauté for a minute until the raw aroma of ginger-garlic disappears.
- Add the finely chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and mushy.
- Now, add the sliced mushrooms to the pan and mix well.
- Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly.
- Cook the mushrooms until they release their moisture and start to shrink in size. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking.
- Once the mushrooms are cooked, sprinkle black pepper powder and garam masala. Mix well to coat the mushrooms evenly.
- Continue cooking for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend together.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
- Serve hot mushroom pepper fry as a delightful appetizer or as a side dish with roti, naan, or rice.
