Preparation Time: Approximately 20 minutes
Servings: Makes 12-15 laddoos
Ingredients
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup desiccated coconut
1/2 cup chopped nuts (almonds, cashews, pistachios)
1/2 cup condensed milk
1/4 cup ghee (clarified butter)
1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
A pinch of saffron strands (optional)
Desiccated coconut for coating (optional)
Method
- Begin by dry roasting the rolled oats in a pan over medium heat. Stir continuously to prevent burning. Roast until the oats turn golden brown and release a nutty aroma. Set them aside.
- In the same pan, add the chopped nuts and lightly toast them until they become aromatic and turn golden. Remove from heat and keep them aside.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the roasted oats and toasted nuts. Mix well to distribute the nuts evenly throughout the oats.
- Incorporate the desiccated coconut into the oats and nuts mixture. The coconut adds a lovely texture and flavor to the laddoos.
- Pour in the condensed milk and mix everything thoroughly. The condensed milk will act as the binding agent for the laddoos.
- Sprinkle cardamom powder into the mixture for a delightful aroma and flavor. Mix it well.
- Grease your palms with a little ghee and start shaping the mixture into small, round laddoos. Roll each laddoo between your palms to create a smooth surface.
- If you like, you can roll the laddoos in desiccated coconut for an extra layer of flavor and texture. This step is optional but adds a delightful touch.
- Allow the Oats Laddoos to cool and set for about 15-20 minutes. They will firm up as they cool down.
- Your Oats Laddoos are now ready to be savored. Enjoy these delectable and nutritious treats as a guilt-free dessert or snack!
