Recipe- Baked Sweet Potato Fries For Tea Time Snack

One thing I have noticed is that in US, almost every other snack that is readily available is sweet in taste. Indians are just so used to all the spices and salt that the sweetness does get to you at times. Especially for snacking, or for tea time, I would like to munch on a salty snack but the options here are very limited. And so in order to make a healthy and salty snack, I made these sweet potato fries. They are baked and not fried and hence you won’t mind munching on them.

The first time I tasted sweet potato fries was in US, in fact I had never heard about it back home in India. To my surprise, I loved them. They were delicious but of course the ones I had were fried and I can’t snack on them all the time. But the baked version of the fries can very well be your guilt free snack.

Method

* Preheat oven to 400 F degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Set aside.

* Wash, peel and cut the sweet potato into thin slices. Try to keep all the slices of equal size and shape so that they take same amount of time to bake.

* Put the slices in a zip lock or in a bowl and add cornstarch.
* Toss so that potato slices are nicely covered with cornstarch.

* Add spices, oil and toss the potato slices again.

* Place the sweet potatoes on the baking tray. Leave little spaces in between as you line them on the baking tray.

* Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping them once in between.
