Recipe- Flavorful and Delicious Masala Pav

Masala Pav is a popular street food in India, especially in the city of Mumbai. It is made with a buttered and toasted pav bun that is stuffed with a spicy masala filling. The filling typically consists of onions, tomatoes, green chilies, and a blend of Indian spices like garam masala, coriander, cumin, and turmeric. Some variations may also include mashed potatoes, grated cheese, or paneer (cottage cheese). Ingredients

6 pav buns
2 medium-sized onions, finely chopped
2 medium-sized tomatoes, finely chopped
2 green chilies, finely chopped
1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
Salt to taste
3 tablespoons oil
Butter for toasting the pav buns

Method

- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add finely chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.

- Add ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, and sauté for 1-2 minutes.

- Add finely chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, and salt to taste. Mix well and cook for 3-4 minutes or until the tomatoes are soft and mushy.

- Mash the mixture with a potato masher or the back of a spoon, so that the masala becomes smooth and thick.

- Cut the pav buns horizontally into two halves.

- Heat a pan and spread some butter on it. Toast the pav buns on both sides until they turn light brown.

- Apply the masala mixture generously on the inner side of the pav buns and close them.

- Serve hot with a side of lemon wedges, chutney, or raita.
