Paneer Tikka recipe, a delicious North Indian starter recipe with detailed video and picture explanation. Paneer Tikka is a popular Paneer dry starter recipe prepared by grilling or roasting curd marinated paneer chunks with vegetables.
Today I showed you how to make Paneer Tikka dry recipe on tawa. You can used oven also for grilling this tikka recipe. But I feel this stove top method is better for making this paneer tikka as this gives a nice smoky tandoor flavor.
There are few tips and tricks to follow while making tikka masala, to achieve soft and tasty tikka. Paneer tikka masala is a gravy recipe prepared using dry tikka pieces. In future I will post tikka masala recipe too. This recipe is almost same as Chicken tikka and substitutes well for vegetarian taste buds.
This is very easy method of making paneer tikka and a fool-proof method which I made multiple times for the little paneer lover in my home. This paneer starter falls under both Paleo friendly and Low carb recipe categories. Paneer is a very good vegetarian alternative for paleo recipes.
To make tikkas paneer should not be crumbled and shapeless. Use properly shaped, firm paneer cubes to make this recipe as the veggies and paneer cubes tend to become softer after marination.
Ingredients
200 grams paneer
1 big onion
1 small Capsicum
1 large tomato
1 cup thick curd
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
½ tsp amchoor powder or chat Masala
½ tsp Garam Masala
¾ tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp jeera powder
1 tsp salt
½ tsp pepper powder
1 tsp kasturi methi
1 tablespoon gram flour
4 tbsp Oil
Method
* Cut paneer into medium size cubes.
* Beat curd into soft smooth paste.
* Chop onion, capsicum and tomato into square cubes.
* In a big mixing bowl take soft beaten curd.
* Add all the spice powders along with ginger garlic paste and Besan/gram flour.
* Mix everything together without lumps. Tikka masala is ready.
* Put all the diced veggies and paneer into the tikka masala and mix evenly. Use your fingers to mix properly.
* Leave aside the marinated paneer and veggies for one to two hours.
* Insert marinated paneer, onion, tomato and capsicum pieces one by one in a random order.
* If you don't have skewer sticks use toothpicks to make tikka.
* Be careful while inserting as the marinated pieces would be very soft and tender.
* Heat oil in a shallow fry pan. When oil is hot reduce the temperature to medium flame.
* Place the stacked skewer sticks on the pan.
* If you don't have skewer sticks or toothpicks just place the marinated pieces on the pan.
* Roast the bottom side for two minutes.
* Flip them and fry for two minutes.
* Fry all the sides in the same way. Be careful not to burn the pieces.
* Serve hot with ketchup or green chutney.
