Grilled corn with herb butter is a classic summer dish that combines the natural sweetness of corn with the aromatic flavors of fresh herbs. This mouthwatering recipe is perfect for backyard barbecues, picnics, or simply as a side dish to accompany your favorite grilled meats. In this article, we will take you through the preparation and cooking process of making grilled corn with herb butter, along with tips to ensure a delicious outcome.
Cooking Preparation Time:
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 15 minutes
Total time: 25 minutes
Ingredients
4 ears of fresh corn
4 tablespoons of unsalted butter, softened
2 tablespoons of fresh herbs (such as parsley, thyme, or basil), finely chopped
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
Method
- Preheat the grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, fresh herbs, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until the herbs are evenly distributed throughout the butter.
- Remove the husks and silk from the corn ears, leaving the stalk intact for easy handling.
- Using a brush or spoon, generously spread the herb butter mixture over each corn ear, ensuring it is evenly coated.
- Place the corn ears directly on the preheated grill. Cook for about 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the corn kernels are tender and lightly charred.
- Remove the grilled corn from the heat and let it cool for a minute or two. Serve the corn ears whole or cut them into smaller pieces. Optionally, you can brush some additional herb butter on top for added flavor. Enjoy the grilled corn while it's still warm!
Tips for Perfectly Grilled Corn:
Soak the corn in water: Prior to grilling, you can soak the unhusked corn ears in cold water for about 10 minutes. This helps to keep the corn moist while grilling and prevent excessive charring.
Customize the herb butter: Feel free to experiment with different herbs and spices to create your own unique herb butter blend. Dill, rosemary, or cilantro can also add a delightful twist of flavor to the grilled corn.
Add a squeeze of citrus: For a tangy kick, squeeze fresh lemon or lime juice over the grilled corn just before serving.
