5 Ways To Tell If A Guy Likes You At Work

Sometimes it’s obvious when a guy likes you, other times it can be more complicated. If you’re wondering how to tell if a guy likes you at work, then it’s probably one of the more complicated scenarios.
Every office has different rules for dating, so maybe check these out before you go any further. But even if your company is pretty ok with office romance, we advise only pursuing your work crush when you feel it’s worth it.
In order to make that decision, it can help to know if your coworker is up for giving your romance a shot too. Here’s our guide on how to know if your coworker is into you.
# He shows up in the same places as you
Does it feel like everywhere you go, he’s there too? If he’s always showing up at places in the office where you are but he doesn’t need to be, it’s a good indication that he wants to see you. Maybe you’re on different teams but he always grabs the desk next to you. Or does he take his lunch at a specific time just so you can eat together?
He could be doing this to test the waters and spend time with you before he takes the jump and asks you on a date. So start noticing his behavior and how often you’re spending time together, it could reveal his intentions!
# He attends after work events that you go to
Maybe he’s never been a fan of work events but recently he’s staying for happy hour with colleagues? If you notice that he’s suddenly staying because you’re there, it could be because he wants to get to know you outside of work time.
Happy hours are a great way for you to get to know each other in a more casual setting without it necessarily being a date. It’s still an environment where you both feel comfortable, but it doesn’t change the nature of your relationship.
Next time your coworkers are having after work drinks, make sure to spend some quality time with him. If things are going well, why not ask him out for a drink afterwards? Who said the guy had to make the first move!
# He knows things about you that your coworkers don’t
In the age of Instagram and Facebook, there are ways for you and your coworkers to be connected beyond your office. That being said, most coworkers don’t care about what you’re posting on Facebook and have never watched your Instagram stories.
If your coworker starts talking to you about things that they saw on your social media, it means that they’re actively taking an interest in your life beyond work. This might be a sign that they want to become a part of it.
Next time he replies to one of your posts or sends you a funny meme, don’t stop there. Ask him about his evening or how his day was. Keeping the conversation going online is a good way of testing if he’s interested in non-work related contact.
# You notice that he talks to you more than other coworkers
If he’s talking to everyone else in the office, he’s probably just a social guy. But do you notice that he speaks to you more than your colleagues? Maybe he comes up to you to chat about a movie he saw that he thinks you’ll like? Or does he message to show you a video that reminded him of you?
Conversations like these show he’s been thinking of you outside of work hours. If he’s remembering little facts, it may be because he considers you important and enjoys getting to know you.
Don’t just pay attention to what he’s saying, but how he’s saying it too. Body language can be a real indicator of whether someone is crushing on you. So if you’re asking yourself how to tell if a guy likes you at work, learn to read the signs he’s giving you with his body language.
# He remembers little things that other people don’t
A lot of coworkers make small talk. Sometimes you end up having the conversation with the same coworker about the same unimportant things. But with him, he remembers what you say and goes further. He builds on the last conversation rather than repeatedly having the same chat. This could be because what you say matters to him.
At this point, he understands that he has a finite amount of hours with you before you both head home for the day. If he’s into you, he probably wants to take advantage of as much time as he has to make a good impression. And that means paying attention. If he’s remembering small details about you, it may be his way of showing interest and trying to grow your connection.
