6 Ways To Say Hit Me Up Nonchalantly

The bible of the American Lingo, a.k.a. The Urban Dictionary, defines the phrase hit me up as, “a way of getting connections, to demand something, or to call.” Those are some pretty broad definitions.
If you want to get someone to call you without having to ask them to directly, try these subtle ways to say “I’d like to hear from you.” It isn’t just about calling, hit me up can include texting too.
When it comes to dating, hit me up typically means “call me.” It is a casual way of asking someone to call so that, if they don’t, you don’t feel like a complete idiot. After all, hit me up is a suggestion, not a request.
# Ask for their phone and input your contact
Okay, a totally bold move, and I am not sure if I would have the confidence. But, if things are going well, and you want to do more than just have a casual encounter, it is totally acceptable to take their phone and ask if you can put your contact number in it.
When you put it in, make sure that you “star” and tag your number as one of their favorites. That way, the next time they reach to make a phone call, lo-and-behold, there will be your contact number and name showing up on their smartphone.
If you want to send an additional heads up, put your picture in so that they will see you pop up in their contact list. Surely, they can’t stop themselves from calling a hottie like you!
# Mistakenly leave something behind
If you want someone to hit you up, then mistakenly leave something behind. Of course, there is an art to it. First, don’t ever leave something behind that you won’t be okay with not getting back. If you leave your keys there, and they don’t see them or aren’t interested, you are out of luck.
But, you have to leave something that is more than just arbitrary, or they may not notice or think twice about making sure that it is returned. A good idea is to leave behind a glove or hat that you can replace and weren’t in love with anyway.
# Gestures are awesome
Flirting is the best way to say hit me up. If you sit all night idly and have a nice time but don’t use the art of flirtation, they may not get the hint. You have to put yourself out there and show them you are interested.
If you don’t want to be assertive enough to verbally say hit me up, then you have to say it with your body language or the way that you touch or brush up against them. If they feel the heat from you and feel it themselves too, then they are more likely to give it a try and call you.
Remember, for the same reason you don’t want to come out and ask them to hit you up, they don’t want to call and be rejected. Send a clear message nonverbally that you are into them, and they will likely give it a shot to text or call you later on.
# Mistakenly call him and hang up
If you have their contact in your phone, do the “Oh… I’m sorry, did I butt dial?” trick. Call them, but just for a brief second and not long enough for them to possibly answer. When they pick up their phone, they will see your contact number come up without a message.
That will leave them wondering what you wanted. If they are interested, they will either text or call you back to see what you wanted or needed. At that point, you can regain the upper hand by simply saying, “Oh I am sorry I dialed by mistake.”
# Text him by mistake
It happens all the time. You mean to text someone, but you accidentally text the wrong person. That is a HUGE mistake, especially when you get two messages mixed up, and in one you are talking about the other person who you reply to… ouch.
If you want to get someone to follow through when you say hit me up, mistakenly text them something like, “Okay, so then I will see you there?” That will leave them questioning why you texted them and bring you to mind. If they answer you, then you have the out of saying, “Sorry about that, I was talking to someone else.”
Not only will that get them to contact you, they will be wondering who you were supposed to see and where. Making them feel like you have other options and perhaps another love interest, they may be more apt to reach out and try to get you before someone else does.
# Grab something of theirs by mistake
It would be a real shame if you accidentally got their notebook for Psych class, but if you did, then they may just have to either see if you know where it is. Or, even better, maybe you can help them by getting together to compare the notes they are missing.
I am not suggesting that you pilfer something, I am merely suggesting that you take something that may make them vulnerable enough to have to check with you or call you to get what they need and are missing.
