15 Tips To Catch A Cheating Partner Right In The Act

Sometimes, you just know when your partner is being unfaithful. You can't explain it, but you feel it in your gut. When you confront your partner, they dismiss your concerns and accuse you of being paranoid. So, how can you catch a cheater without solid proof?
You might be wrong, but if you know you’re not overly jealous, clingy, or insecure, don't let anyone invalidate your feelings.
Often, the butterflies in our stomachs serve as warnings. If you doubt your partner, it's a sign that things aren't all rosy in your relationship.
Suppressing your doubts and fears and pretending everything is perfectly normal won't help. In fact, it will only tear both of you apart from the inside, day by day.
# Watch the Signs
Pay attention to the signs mentioned earlier. The more you notice, the more cautious you should be.
If the signs aren't enough to convince you—let's be real, some people can lie and fake smiles like they're running for office—you need to take action to catch the cheater.
# Drop by Unannounced
Occasionally, drop by their workplace or come home early without warning. Don’t make it obvious that you’re spying; instead, have a plausible excuse for showing up unannounced.
If your partner is cheating, they might hide something, appear surprised, or even get angry instead of welcoming you with a smile.
# Check Their Recycle Bin
Garbage can be a great place to dispose of evidence. If your partner uses a computer often, check the computer's trash or recycle bin.
You might find another person’s photo or a snippet of information that could be useful.
# Snoop Around on Their Phone
Does your partner now carry their phone everywhere, even to the bathroom, which they never did before? If so, they might be up to something. Peek into their phone when you get the chance, especially when it’s charging.
Check the call history, social media apps, and deleted folder in the camera roll. They might have forgotten to permanently delete some evidence.
If the flirty emojis they use are different from the ones they send you, they might be flirting with someone else.
# Stalk Their Social Media
Social media is an easy place to catch a cheater. Check their following list on Instagram. See if they’re liking photos of scantily clad individuals or interacting with someone more than others.
If possible, check their DMs, but be prepared for potentially heartbreaking results.
# Get to Know Their Friends of the Opposite Sex
It's a good sign if a guy has female friends, as it shows he respects women. The same goes for a girl with many guy friends, indicating she's outgoing and well-liked.
However, there should be boundaries in these friendships. Their “best friend” shouldn’t be overly affectionate with them or ignore you when you're around.
Stay calm and get to know their close friends. If they're genuinely good people, you can ask them to watch your partner's behavior. If not, prepare to catch a cheater.
# Spontaneous Sex
This tactic works better if you’re a woman dating a man. If your boyfriend or husband comes home late, ask for spontaneous sex. If he gets angry or avoids it, he might have already been intimate with someone else before coming home.
He could clean up before coming home, but performing immediately and releasing a large amount is not easy. Only try this if you haven't had sex in a while, as your partner has every right to refuse if they're not in the mood. Let's be honest, who can have sex all day every day?
# Follow After a Fight
Another way to catch a cheater is not to leave them alone after a fight.
While walking away during a heated argument can sometimes help calm things down, if your partner frequently does this without resolving the issues, it's a red flag.
Cheating partners often pick fights, slam doors, and leave, using it as an excuse to meet their lover. If this happens often, try following them under the pretense of apologizing if they catch you.
You might not catch the cheater, but you could resolve your problems.
# Change Your Sleeping Habits
To catch a cheater, notice changes in their sleeping habits. They might stay up late using work as an excuse or sneak around the house at odd hours.
Pretend to be asleep and see if they get out of bed for long periods. Early mornings can also be suspicious if they wake up early to use the phone, especially if they suspect you’re onto them.
# Walk in When They Least Expect It
Walk in on your partner unexpectedly, especially if they’ve been alone for a while.
If your partner acts jumpy or nervous when you walk in, especially if they’re on the phone or in front of the computer, they might be doing something wrong. No cheater wants to get caught.
# Include Yourself in Their Plans
If your partner suddenly has a lot of late nights at work or social gatherings, invite yourself along. See how they react.
Remember, your partner doesn’t have to spend every second with you and should have their own life too. Only do this if they avoid you so much that you rarely spend time together.
# Get Information from Mutual Friends
Ask mutual friends to keep an eye on your partner and let you know if they act suspiciously behind your back.
Even better, get close to your partner’s friends and gather information from the inside. If their friends like you and discover your partner is cheating, they'll likely be on your side.
# Create a Fake Profile
If you’re willing to get creative, make a fake Instagram account. Follow and message your partner, flirting with them.
If they flirt back and don’t immediately say they're taken, they might cheat if they haven’t already.
# Hidden Cameras
Place a spy camera in the room where your partner spends most of their alone time. If they’re on the phone or doing something suspicious, you’ll find out soon enough.
# Keyloggers
Keyloggers are software you can download from the internet, some free and some paid. These programs can be installed on a computer without the user knowing.
They can record passwords, typed letters, visited pages, or even video of the screen.
