Doctor Kills Wife, Claims She Died Of Heart Attack In Mumbai

Suspicious of his advocate wife, a doctor in Jalgaon has killed her on Sunday and tried to pass off her death as being caused by a heart attack. However, police arrested him even as he was getting ready to make funeral arrangements. A case of murder has been registered against the killer doctor, Bharat Patil. His wife, Vidya Rajput, alias Rakhi Patil, worked as a government pleader. She married Bharat 15 years ago.

The first few years of their marriage were smooth. However, within a few years, sparks began to fly between the couple. Being a government pleader, Vidya would always be on the phone and was required to speak to various people. Upset at this, Patil would taunt her. This led to fights between them and Bharat began to plot Vidya’s murder., On January 13, late in the evening, the couple got into another verbal duel. An enraged Bharat mercilessly beat Vidya and strangled her.

On realising that he had killed Vidya, he began to prepare for her funeral, telling her family she had collapsed after a severe heart attack. He began readying for her funeral. However, Vidya’s parents were highly suspicious and insisted on a post-mortem, to which Bharat vehemently objected. But his behaviour further fuelled everybody’s suspicions and Vidya’s family lodged a police complaint. Bharat initially misled police with his statements, but finally confessed to his crime. On Monday night, an offence was lodged against him and he was arrested for killing his wife.
