Ganapati's Alleged Arrest Triggers Nationwide Outrage Among Hindus: Karnataka Government Under Fire

The alleged arrest of Lord Ganesha by the Karnataka government has ignited widespread outrage. On September 13, during a Ganesh immersion procession in Congress-ruled Karnataka, participants were attacked with stones.
Rather than arresting the perpetrators, the police detained those protesting the incident and confiscated the Ganesha idol.
Hindu communities in Maharashtra have also voiced their anger over this unprecedented act. The incident has sent shockwaves through Karnataka, marking a first in the history of independent India.
Political Reactions to Ganapati Aarti
Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended an Aarti of Lord Ganesha, which drew criticism from Congress and Mahavikas Aghadi. Chief Justice of India Dhananjay Chandrachud, a Marathi speaker, installed Shri Ganesha at his residence. Critics questioned Chandrachud's credibility due to his participation.
Hindu festivals are meant to foster mutual affection. However, Congress and the Uddhav Thackeray group seem to have forgotten this tradition. Hindutva activists are questioning why leaders who host Iftar parties oppose Ganpati Aarti.
BJP's Response
The BJP reminded Congress of past events when Manmohan Singh hosted an Iftar party attended by Chief Justice KG Balakrishnan in 2009. Shiv Sena MP Milind Deora criticised Congress for objecting to Modi's Ganapati Aarti while allowing such events in the past.
Controversial Remarks at Sambhaji Brigade Event
At a recent Sambhaji Brigade anniversary event, patron Sharad Pawar and Congress MP Shahu Maharaj were present when derogatory remarks were made about Hindu deities. Prabhu Sri Ramachandra and Swami Samarth were criticised for using crude language. Sharad Pawar and Shahu Maharaj were seen laughing during these remarks.
Sharad Pawar visited the Raja of Lalbagh the next day, possibly realising the gravity of the situation. Critics noted that while he regularly attends Iftar parties, he has never been seen at Raigad or participating in Wari.
The reactions from various political parties like Congress, Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party, National Conference, Aam Aadmi Party, and others relying on fatwas for votes pose a significant threat to Hindus.
"The number of Varakas increased from eight lakhs to eleven lakhs as Gopal Badwa performed Lagushanka in the tirthkunda," was one of the controversial statements made by Gyanesh Maharao at the event. Such remarks have deeply hurt Hindu sentiments.
The incident involving Lord Ganesha's alleged arrest and subsequent political reactions highlight ongoing tensions between religious traditions and political actions in India.
