Jharkhand Elections: Hemant Soren Government Faces Criticism Over Paper Leaks And JSSC Irregularities

Jharkhand Elections 2024: This time, the Hemant Soren-led JMM coalition government is facing heavy criticism over issues related to leaked examination papers and irregularities within the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC). There are allegations that the state government's lack of seriousness regarding the future of its youth has led to these incidents.
During his visit to Jharkhand on Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah sharply criticised the ruling JMM over the exam paper leak issue. He promised that if the BJP comes to power, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) would be established to bring the culprits to justice.
Pledge to Form SIT to Expose Paper Leak Scandal
Amit Shah stated, "More than 11 exam papers were leaked, but Hemant Babu remains silent because the culprits are his close associates... We will form an SIT and ensure that those responsible for these leaks end up behind bars."
Questionable Approach of Hemant Soren's Government on the Paper Leak Issue
The paper leak issue has severely impacted the trust of Jharkhand's public. The way the Soren government handled this issue has been viewed as dubious. Critics argue that if the JMM government had prioritised exam security, such leaks could have been prevented. Despite alleged irregularities in JSSC exams, authorities seemed indifferent.
People naturally question why the leaks occurred. Was the government unable to prevent them, or was there a lack of commitment to maintaining a transparent and fair recruitment process? Other states have implemented strong restrictions to prevent such leaks, serving as examples that Jharkhand could have followed.
Growing Doubts Due to the Government's Lax Response
The Hemant Soren government faced intense criticism due to its reported lax response to controlling paper leaks. Candidates expected swift investigations and accountability, but delays led to public outrage.
Accusations of Cover-Up Against the Administration
One significant issue is the state's delay in transparently addressing these incidents, further fueling suspicion. It seemed that instead of taking action, the administration focused on covering up to protect the government's image.
What Options Do Youth Have Amidst Government Inaction?
Despite this large-scale misconduct, no accountability has been fixed, nor have those responsible faced strict punishment. Young candidates invest significant time preparing for government exams. But when the government itself appears indifferent, where can they turn?
These events have not only affected the present of countless talented youth but, as alleged, may have jeopardised their future due to the state's irresponsible actions.
Crisis of Trust in JMM's Internal Investigations
In such circumstances, it is natural to suspect that a climate is being fostered in Jharkhand where corruption and nepotism in government jobs are on the rise. This has led to widespread demand for independent or judicial inquiries into these incidents, as the state's internal investigations no longer inspire confidence.
