With the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections, the alliance of BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP has laid out an ambitious agenda aimed at addressing key societal and economic challenges. Their shared manifesto, designed to attract a broad spectrum of voters, showcases a significant emphasis on enhancing the financial well-being of various demographics, including women, farmers, senior citizens, and the youth. The alliance's promises range from increased monthly payments under social welfare schemes to substantial job creation and infrastructure projects, reflecting a multi-faceted approach to state development.
Among the manifesto's standout proposals is the commitment to raise the monthly payment for women under the Ladki Bahin Yojana from Rs. 1500 to Rs. 2100. This scheme, which enjoys wide popularity among over two and a half crore registered women, underscores the alliance's strategy to secure the women's vote by providing direct financial support. This increase is part of a broader effort to address gender equality and empower women financially across the state.
In addition to focusing on women's financial empowerment, the manifesto dedicates considerable attention to the agricultural sector, understanding the critical role it plays in the state's economy and the hardships faced by farmers. It promises to alleviate these challenges through loan waivers and a bump in the Farmer Samman Yojana payout from Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 15,000. A 20 percent subsidy on the minimum support price (MSP) is also on the cards, aimed at boosting farmers' incomes and encouraging agricultural productivity.
Empowering the Elderly and the Youth
Further accentuating its welfare-centric approach, the alliance vows to increase the old age pension from Rs. 1500 to Rs. 2100. This pledge not only aims to provide financial security to senior citizens but also to acknowledge their contribution to society. The manifesto doesn't stop there; it also outlines plans to generate 25 lakh jobs, alongside offering monthly stipends of Rs. 10,000 to 10 lakh students through the Vidyavetan Yojana, highlighting a commitment to nurturing the state's future workforce.
Infrastructure and Renewable Energy Initiatives
On the infrastructure front, the manifesto promises the construction of Panand roads across 45,000 villages, a move aimed at enhancing rural connectivity. Additionally, it recognizes the importance of supporting Anganwadi and Asha workers by proposing a Rs. 15,000 salary and insurance coverage, which aligns with broader goals of women's employment and empowerment. The document also addresses the cost of living concerns by pledging a 30 percent reduction in electricity bills, with a focus on transitioning towards solar and renewable energy sources to sustain government revenues in the face of lowered utility tariffs.
Titled "Vision Maharashtra @ 2029," the manifesto articulates a future-oriented roadmap for the state's economic development, highlighting the pivotal role of solar power and major infrastructure projects like Atal Setu, Samriddhi Highway, and various metro projects in major cities. The emphasis on completing these projects reflects the government's dedication to development and resonates with the manifesto's slogan, "Hard work done, now the next preparation."
This comprehensive manifesto, blending welfare economics, infrastructure development, and a commitment to renewable energy, positions the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP alliance as focused on not only addressing immediate financial concerns but also laying the groundwork for long-term economic and social growth. Through its wide-ranging promises, the alliance aims to appeal to a diverse electorate, ensuring that the needs and aspirations of Maharashtra's people are front and center in their electoral campaign.
