Rain Likely To Hit Bhopal on Makar Sankranti

Madhya Pradesh is likely to experience rain within next couple of days—on or before Makar Sankranti.
Presently, a trough is extending from North-central Arabian Sea to South MP across central Maharashtra. This makes the perfect ground for occurrence of very light rains over various parts of Central and adjoining Southeast MP between January 13 and Jan 15. Apart from this, partly cloudy sky is expected in parts of MP and parts of nearby other states.

The trough is expected to disappear after 24 hours paving way for northerly- northeasterly winds to return over the region. Thus, we expect the temperatures to come down to normal or gradually below the normal mark, January 15 onward.
Besides, temperatures have started rising in Madhya Pradesh, due to the moist winds blowing from Bay of Bengal.

Moreover, at present the minimum temperatures are significantly above normal and likely to maintain this trend for another 24- 48 hours. Bhopal recorded a maximum temperature of 25.1 degree Celsius while it recorded a minimum temperature of 10.1 degree Celsius. Indore recorded 27.2 degree Celsius and it recorded a minimum temperature of 11.0 degree Celsius. For the last four days, temperature maintained the increasing trend.

However, still many places recorded very low temperature. Khajuraho recorded 3 degree Celsius and Nowgaon recorded 4.1 degree Celsius. Similarly, Datia recorded 4.6 degree Celsius and Gwalior recorded 5.1 degree Celsius. According to meteorological department, Presently, rain is likely due to a trough which is extending from North-central Arabian Sea to South Madhya Pradesh across Madhya Maharashtra. The cloudy weather is expected over various cities in the state. The trough is expected to disappear after 24 hours paving way for northerly- northeasterly winds to return over the region and it will infuse chill and cold January 15 onward.
