Two Businessmen Arrested For Abusing, Making Lewd Gestures At Women In Andheri, Mumbai

Two businessmen arrested for abusing, making lewd gestures at women in Andheri, Mumbai

The police arrested two businessmen for abusing two women outside the mall in Andheri on Saturday night. The Amboli Police arrested the duo within few hours after a victim recorded the incident and posted it on social media.

According to Hindustan Times, the accused were identified as Romy Kohli and Bunty Madhrani. The incident took place at Citi Mall on Link road in Andheri (West) on Saturday night, where the complainant had parked her car outside the mall around 8 pm. The accused businessmen had also parked their car at the spot. During the time of the incident, Romy Kohli was behind the wheel and was allegedly in an inebriated state. Kohli rammed into the complainant’s car, parked behind.

Later, the complainant came out of her car and questioned Kohli as to why he was driving in an inebriated state, and told his friend who was sitting next to him to drive the car. After this, Kohli got enraged and stepped out if the car and began abusing the complainant and her friend. They suddenly started hurling abuses and began banging the complainant’s car, they also made obscene gestures. The woman shot a video of the entire incident and shared on social media.

Later, the women called up the police control room to complain, who directed them to Amboli police station. The police inspector from Amboli station filed a complaint against the duo and traced them within four hours. The police booked the accused under sections 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), 427 (mischief causing damage) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC.
