Apple Soon To Launch AI Wall Tablet

Apple is reportedly preparing to introduce an innovative addition to the smart home market: an AI-powered wall-mounted tablet. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this new device will function as a central command hub, enabling users to control appliances, manage video calls, and navigate apps through AI-driven interactions. Apple’s long-awaited entry into the smart home display market could launch as soon as March, offering consumers a versatile and intuitive tool for home automation.

The device, codenamed "J490," is set to feature Apple’s latest AI platform, Apple Intelligence, which combines Siri’s capabilities with advanced, hands-free navigation. Gurman indicates that CEO Tim Cook has made this product a priority, dedicating significant engineering and design resources to position Apple as a competitor to Amazon’s Echo Show and Google’s Nest Hub, which currently dominate the smart home display space. Apple’s tablet is expected to stand out by integrating unique features tailored to its ecosystem, appealing to those already invested in Apple’s technology.

The design of the device is compact—similar to a small iPad—with a six-inch screen, internal speakers, a camera, and a thick frame. It is designed to seamlessly fit into various home setups, with mounts for wall hanging or countertop placement. Users will be able to control it using Siri or its touch interface, blending elements from the Apple Watch’s software design and the iPhone’s StandBy mode. Additionally, it will serve as an interface for Apple’s HomeKit, allowing users to easily control compatible smart home devices like lights, thermostats, security systems, and door locks.
