Google Launches Pixel Buds Web App To Windows and macOS

Google's Pixel Buds web app has been updated to support Windows and macOS, enabling users to control their earbuds directly from their PCs. This update follows the app's initial release in October 2023, which was limited to Chromebooks.

Accessible at mypixelbuds.google.com, the web app is compatible with macOS 14 Sonoma or newer and Windows 11 or newer. It allows users to adjust various settings on their Pixel Buds, such as active noise cancellation, transparency mode, conversation detection, and touch controls. Users can also customize the equalizer and update firmware without needing an Android device.

To use the web app, users must pair their Pixel Buds with their computer and navigate to the website. It can also be saved as a Progressive Web App (PWA) for quick access. Once connected, users can check the battery status for both the case and the individual earbuds.

For Pixel Buds Pro users, the app includes additional features like Active Noise Control, Conversation Detection, Multipoint connectivity, and touch control settings. The "More Settings" section offers access to options such as Mono Audio, Volume EQ, Volume Balance, and In-Ear Detection.

This expansion beyond Chromebooks significantly enhances the accessibility of Pixel Buds controls for users across various operating systems. However, Linux users remain excluded, even though Chrome OS is based on Linux. A workaround is available for Linux users through user agent settings, but official support is still lacking.
